Asian Biblical Illiteracy Is Tops
Jul 3rd, 2008 by Sam
Here’s an interesting stat by the Barna Group:
Blacks (66%) are the ethnic group most likely to have read the Bible in the past week, followed by whites (45%), Hispanics (41%) and Asians (20%). (2006)
I guess Asians are definitely NOT the model minority when it comes to a love for Scripture and Bible reading. I was surprised by the big drop off between the next lowest group. A 21% difference? But in my discussions with many Asian-Americans I know, this doesn’t seem so far-fetched. So many Asian-Americans have been completely influenced by education-glorifying parents, that God’s Word simply does not take precedence in their lives.
