(Today is Good Friday. Good Friday commemorates Christ’s crucifixion and death.) …
… imagine that Matthew’s gospel ended with “they went and made the tomb secure by sealing the stone and setting a guard” … imagine Mark’s gospel ending with “Pilate was surprised to hear that he [Jesus] should have already died” … what if Luke finished with these words: “… he [Jesus] breathed his last …”.
How would your life be changed if the last words in the Gospel of John were “…they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead…”?

Our faith’s object is the One who both died and has risen. So we have not merely the peace of sin’s payment in Jesus’ death, but the blessed hope of life now and forever in our Savior.
He is risen indeed.
Ah, good ol’ tjk(east). Preach the rez tomorrow, bro, preach the rez. As always, grace and peace to you.
