What to Do When You’re Chewed Out?
Mar 13th, 2008 by admin
Mark Altrogge has a really great post called, “A Toad in a Texas Hailstorm.” He calls it this because when your suddenly and unexpectedly chewed out you blink “like a toad in a Texas halistone.” The funny thing is, when my son Jack gets in trouble, he begins to blink repeatedly and quickly. If I say, “Jack, stop blinking,” he cries out, “Whaaaaaaa!” with his crocodile tears. But here is what he recommends when this happens. You can go to his blog for more details:
1. Don’t get defensive.
2. Examine yourself.
3. Don’t dismiss their criticism just because they didn’t bring it on a satin pillow.
4. Humble yourself.
5. Remember, you’re worse than any criticism of you.
6. Trust God.
7. If sinned against, forgive.
