CJ on Andy Pettitte
Feb 22nd, 2008 by admin

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a rabid Yankee fan. in the Bay Area, especially in my church, sometimes I feel like the Yankee General Custer. But alas, such is the life of the fan of 26 world championships. But I digress. You have to read CJ’s post on Andy Pettitte (AP) and PED (performance-enhancing drugs). I had those same sentiments when I heard AP’s confession.
AP said:
From the bottom of my heart, I know why I did this. I didn’t do it to try to get an edge on anyone, I didn’t do it to try to get stronger, faster or to throw harder. I did it because I was told that it might be able to help me. That’s for other people to decide. If people think I’m lying then they should call me a cheater. Do I think I’m a cheater? I don’t. God knows my heart.
This confession seemed so empty. While admitting to the PED, he still refuses to acknowledge that he actually cheated. To get back from injury faster is a competitive edge. Just ask Ken Griffey, Jr. If he took steroids and HGH, he would have blown away Barry Bonds’ HR record. The fact of the matter is, taking PEDs is cheating regardless of what Andy’s conscience tells him.
Any way, CJ eloquently describes what should have taken place and what a missed opportunity Mr. Pettitte had to show the world as a Christian just how great his sin is, but how great a Savior he worships.
