Great Books in Many Languages
Sep 12th, 2007 by admin

There is a new ministry resource that is coming online soon called Open Source Mission. And they’re vision is this:
Open Source Mission is a global initiative to increase and accelerate the accessibility of gospel-centered resources outside of the English-speaking world. We accomplish this mission by leveraging the power of mass collaboration to translate contemporary Christian books and articles from English into a number of other languages. Why do this? Because access to biblically-sound resources is a critical and strategic need for a church’s healthy growth, discipleship, and evangelism regardless of where it is located or what language it speaks. And while to date Christian publishing has not been able to translate and distribute Christian books for international churches very effectively, we believe that now we have a substantial opportunity to reverse that trend.
I spoke with Andre who is heading up this venture, and his vision is ambitious, but the impact could be tremendous for the global church. They’re partnering with Sovereign Grace Ministries and Desiring God and others to translate some excellent books.
As the son of immigrant parents whose secondary language is English, I know how valuable the translation of great books into their heart language would be. So if you want to find out different ways you can help, check out the website or you can download this PDF for further information.

Thanks for posting on Open Source Mission. We are leveraging the “open source” community participation mode, building a virtual community of translators to take on translation projects. The translated content will be published for free on a wikipedia type platform at www.gospeltranslations.org
If you’re bilingual and Christian, please consider joining our efforts to bring gospel centered materials to the non-English speaking nations.
