Moses’ Interracial Marriage
Sep 4th, 2007 by admin
Did Moses marry a black woman? That’s the question John Piper answers in this post by 9 Marks. But it sure seems like Moses did indeed marry a black woman and when Miriam judged him for it, God judged her with leprosy!
JP quotes the PCA’s annual meeting in defining racism as: “Racism is an explicit or implicit belief or practice that qualitatively distinguishes or values one race over other races.” How all of us, including me of course, need to repent and mourn over our racist biases, tendencies, and sin. Being in Africa has shown me so much about how much I have lived a life that has had racist tendencies. But being in Africa has also shown me what heaven will be like, where there will be no judgment of others at all on the basis of race. To worship together with blacks, whites, yellows, and browns in the same room with a passion for Christ and His glory is so deeply soul-satisfying that words can’t do the experience justice. One day, we’ll be surrounding the throne of the Slain Lamb together and what joy there will be in that place, eternally.
