Thank You GCTS

I finally returned home from my NJ and Boston trip. The traveling season is over. And it is good to be back. We had an opportunity to visit some old stomping grounds, like Gordon-Conwell where Shua and I both received M. Div.’s. We hadn’t been back in 10 years so to see GCTS was so nostalgic. The kids were able to roam free there, running down the great rolling hills.

Here’s GCTS’s chapel…

We also went to Plymouth to see where the Pilgrims lived and landed. Plymouth Plantation and the Mayflower was nice. But it was boiling hot that day. It was nice to visit there but I wouldn’t go back again. It was expensive.

One of our old haunting grounds was Singing Beach, about 10 minutes away from Gordon. Here my wife is not doing Karate Kid, but freaked out from an over-eager seagull going after her bread quite forcefully…

Afterwards, it was good to go back to Rockport, MA and eat some New England clam chow-dah. Rockport is beautiful and if you ever visit GCTS, you need to go there.

and ahh…the lobsters!

We went to Park Street Church for worship. An old professor of ours, Gordon Hugenberger preached a message on Pontius Pilate. His observations on Pilate were really great and if you’re preaching a message on Pilate, this is worth a listen.

And then, just walking around Boston Common was nice, if it wasn’t so deathly hot. We went to the graveyard behind Park Street Church where John Hancock, Samuel Adams, and Paul Revere are buried.

What frightens me far more than cemeteries however, is being in Red Sox Nation. It makes me feel queasy.

Good bye Boston. It was a nice place to visit but going back to NJ gave me so much more to look forward to, like Titan the dog.
