Jesus Is the Only Way, but Allah Can Come Along Too

In reading George Whitefield’s bio, in one of his sermons called, “The Unconverted Ministry,” he observes that churches are unconverted because pastors are unconverted. THis makes sense to me which is why it also makes sense as to why much of the Episcopalian church is losing ground in the world, even as it tries to become very much like the world.
For instance, for Ann Holmes Redding a Episcopalian priest, she dons a Muslim headscarf and prays with a Muslim group. She says: “I am both Muslim and Christian, just like I’m both an American of African descent and a woman. I’m 100 percent both.” Oh how such thinking must grieve the Lord. The article interviews Kurt Fredrickson who is the D. Min. director at Fuller and he responds: “I don’t think it’s possible” to be both, Fredrickson said, just like “you can’t be a Republican and a Democrat.” I don’t think? This is not a small doctrine that is being compromised, but rather, the uniqueness of Christ is critical to Christianity. Without it, we might as well pursue other things in life on Sundays.
Charles Spurgeon writes:
IT IS A GREAT THING to begin the Christian life by believing good solid doctrine. Some people have received twenty different “gospels” in as many years; how many more they will accept before they get to their journey’s end, it would be difficult to predict. I thank God that He early taught me the gospel, and I have been so perfectly satisfied with it, that I do not want to know any other.
I am afraid for Ann Redding, here Christianity and Islam are probably 2 of her many different gospels.

PSam - great tie-in of GWhit and CSpurg on this one. The lack of logic behind Redding’s muslim/Christian, woman/African-american comparison while go undetected by most of her readers, I’d bet.
