Bye Bye Foxnews.com
May 25th, 2007 by admin
I used to read cnn.com until I got tired of its very biased political opinions. Then I switched over to Fox which I thought would at least give me some different perspectives on political opinions. But as of today, I will no longer be reading Fox any more. Why you might ask? Because every time I look at the site, I am confounded by all of the smut that they regularly choose to write about. This has been happening for months.
What is even more irksome is that they bold their “Latest News” section which usually contains one sex story (today’s is, “Trooper Fired Over Porn Star Tryst”). That bold lettering makes one really want to read the article. There have been times when all four or five of the articles were regarding sex. Moreover, when you go to the “Most Read Articles” section in each story, often is the case that there a number of sex stories. Down below the site, a featured article is this piece of ground-breaking journalism, “‘Spiced’ Up Sex Life Posh PR: Victoria Beckham visits West Hollywood sex shop ‘Pleasure Chest.’” How is this news?
This past week, Desiring God released a list of questions people on their staff answer each week as a point of accountability. One of the questions asked, “Do you look at porn?” Someone noted that a better question to ask is this, “Have you looked at anything sexually immoral this week?” That’s a better question pictures are not the only mode of temptation when it comes to sexual lust. Words can create an image as well. And sometimes these Foxnews.com articles would be something you might read in Penthouse magazine.
So yes, bye bye Fox. I’ll let you know what I choose. If you know of something good to read for US news, please let me know (BBC is great for international).

Sam, this is a great observation and I may join you in this change. I found that BBC has a bias, though. Have you tried the Economist or Google-news?
