Downs Syndrome=Abortion

Worldmagblog notes:
About 90 percent of pregnant women who are given a Down syndrome diagnosis have chosen to have an abortion. It’s a statistic that has parents of children with Down syndrome concerned. “If all these people terminate babies with Down syndrome, there won’t be programs, there won’t be acceptance or tolerance,â€? said Tracy Brown, 37, of Seattle, whose 2-year-old son, Maxford, has the condition. “I want opportunities for my son. I don’t know if that’s right or wrong, but I do.â€?
Brown is like a growing number of parents who are reaching out to educate and support families faced with the disease. While such parents say their goal is not to coerce anyone into raising a child with disabilities, many do see themselves as society’s first line of defense against a use of genetic technology that can border on eugenics. “For me, it’s just faces disappearing, said Nancy Iannone, of Turnersville, N.J., mother of a daughter with Down syndrome. “It isn’t about abortion politics or religion, it’s a pure ethical question.
What a sad fact. A child with downs syndrome is considered a nuisance, a menace to society. Of course, no one wants their child to have downs syndrome. However, I don’t want my son to be deaf or blind or missing an arm either. But I also know my kids have been formed by God Himself for His glory and for my joy, despite the hardship. For those parents with children with Downs Syndrome, I trust that as they see God’s handiwork in that child’s beauty, they will receive the rewards of blessings from God and the blessings in caring for their precious children.
