VaTech and ‘Gook’

Yesterday, I decided to do a Google search on the words VaTech and ‘Gook’ and of course I found so much vitriol on the web already that it backed up the sad truth that some will pay the price for the sins of another. One person I read suggested going out and physically assaulting any gooks that one encounters. In many ways, this opened my eyes to what Arab-Americans must have been facing after 911. The vast majority, I am sure, are law-abiding citizens and yet, they are treated as though they hijacked those planes. I remembering at the time, what if the hijackers were North Korean agents? Would Koreans have faced the same scrutiny as Arab-Americans? And the answer is an absolute, “Yes.”
In a world of brokenness and shame, there is no hope for humanity apart from the Gospel (Romans 1:16-17). Both gooks and gook-haters need the Gospel. Because there will come a time, and human sinful nature tells us this is true, when the ‘gooks’ will no longer be the object of derision but the perpetrators of the same prejudice they have received. What hope really is there in light of all of this? The world provides ample evidence each moment that Paul’s’ words in Romans 1-3 perfectly hits the mark. And thank God for Romans 3:21:
BUT NOW the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to itâ€â€
