Bruce Ware, Mark Dever, and John Piper Roundtable
Mar 7th, 2007 by admin
If you’re interested in a really good discussion on some mouth-watering topics, go check out this discussion between these three gentlemen. The following topics are covered:
* Limited Atonement (the “L” in TULIP)(Bruce Ware participates in this, who has been misdiagnosed as a 4-point Calvinist; for further thought I suggest Packer’s introductory essay to John Owen’s Death of Death, which settled my mind on it once and for all)
* N. T. Wright and justification
* Jonathan Edwards (and what to read first)
* being “missional”
* the relationship between social action and evangelism
* church structure (congregationalism vs. plurality of elders)
* the role of the government and the Christian’s civil responsibility
* mega-churches
* abortion

PSam, I listened to about 40 minutes of this while treadmilling this AM. Got to the part where JPiper discussess NTWright. I’d be interested in your take on the Piper-Ware discussion of “L”. Have you read/heard NTW - thoughts?
Why do you say “misrdiagnosed” in regards to Bruce’s 4 pt. position? I have heard him argue several times for the 4pt. position (once in public debate with gentleman who serves as an elder along side of Bruce.)
rmike, what did you think of the audio discussion between Ware and Piper? That discussion seems to place Ware in the 5-pt camp. What is your take?
