Without a Wife and Two Kids for Two Weeks - and counting…
Feb 21st, 2007 by admin
Some of you know that my wife (Shua of samshua) and my two youngest kids have been gone for about 2 weeks. Her original return date was supposed to be tomorrow, but now she won’t be home until March 6th. So I have our other two oldest girls with me. So why is she gone? She’s caring for her dad who is sick with lung cancer and has just started chemotherapy. It’s been a really trying time for him and for Shua’s mom, as well as for Shua. If you have time to lift up a prayer for him, that would be great. Cancer is a dreadful disease.
Well, I thought I’d list a few things I have learned in her absence:
1. My wife is not only my wife and the mother of my children, but she’s my best friend as well. Talking to a 7 year old and a 5 year old 24-7 reminds me how much I miss our conversations.
2. Without Shua, my house seems to be significantly messier. I don’t know how that could be. Anyone have any suggestions?
3. I sleep later than I did with her around.
4. I think I would work 7 days a week without Shua, and that would NOT be a good thing.
5. I still sleep on one side of the bed even though I have the whole side of the bed. Sleeping in the middle almost seems “wrong.”
6. Breakfast seems to get smaller and smaller. I have been kids yogurt for breakfast every day now. We ran out of bread for toast. And I haven’t gone out to get milk yet.
7. Vegetables have somehow vanished from our diet.
8. Our laundry is sprawled out all over the place. I will fold it. One day.
9. I didn’t know plants sleep. Ours has its leaves wilting to the ground.
10. I am forever thankful to the Lord for a cherished wife, whom I love with all my heart. I can’t wait for March 6th.

Psam … dude … drive to TJ’s and get some milk and veggies … lift up your hands and give thanks for Shua … put them down and fold some laundry … [grinning] …
Seriously, I intercede for you, Shua, the kids, and Shua’s dad (and mom) …
Also: while Donna was away with the Wellspring Asia Team I was continually reminded of the truthfulness of Genesis 2:18 - “Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone”. Amen? I think the thing I missed most was the companionship, her presence.
Shua come home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lifting up prayers for Shua and family.
Make sure you and the kids take a multivitamin in absence of nutrience…haha.
It’s great that the laundry is done. Nah…don’t fold it. Just reach for it from the laundry basket and it will stay clean instead of dirty on the floor.
Suggestion for keeping things clean - (1) Use paper plates and cups and utensils, (2) Only play in one area of the house. Containing things help, (3) Fasting is a good practice…hahaha…
