West Better Than East?

Ok here are the few things that I like more about the West Coast over the East Coast:
1. The Weather

When I was in NJ, I checked what the weather was like in the Bay Area and it was always beautiful. It was sunny and not too hot and not too cold. In NJ, it was overcast and raning for half of the time I was there. And when the winter time hits, boy that it when the weather really makes a difference.
2. The Topography

NJ, outside of the ugly and smelly parts, is quite lush (hence the Garden State). But it doesn’t compare to the beauty of the Bay Area.
3. Cleanliness

NJ and NY is quite dirty actually. There will be a trash can on the side of the road and surrounding it will be trash that people throw out of their cars as if to say, “So long as I get it close to the trash can, then I’m not littering.”
4. Better Pace of Life

People are angry out there. Definitely driving in NJ and NYC makes you a bit more tense and a bit more rushed and yes, a bit more angry. BUt as an experiment, I tried to be extra nice to people to see what would happen. Instead of saying, “Thanks,” I would said, “Thank you very much and I hope you have a wonderful day.” And you know, just those few extra words would actually get me a smile from the toll collectors. Being a toll collector is not an easy job so to see them smile made me smile a bit.
5. NO Tolls

Speaking of tolls, I had no change and no dollar bills left after a day of driving in the East. They would collect tolls on the sidewalks if they could. Give me back the FREEways.

I say that people in the West Coast are friendlier and enjoy a better pace of life because of the weather and topography…and as my personal experience with gov’t-run departments (e.g. DMV) revealed, the service given here is done so with a smile.
And why not? Because the West Coast rocks!
#1 alone is reason enough to live out west…
shhh…i’ve been converted…but don’t tell ‘em back home!
Sorry to break the West Coast lovefest, but I’d go back East, all other things considered. Tolls - Been across a bridge around here lately? Topography - Just take a 600 mile vertical section of the East Coast for change. Pace of life - go to the Montgomery Street BART station at 445 PM and see what happens when somebody _thinks_ that another person is cutting line. Cleanliness - don’t make me laugh; driven on 580, 680, or 880 lately? Weather - small nudge to the West but only if you don’t like living in 4 seasons. Here’s another as a bonus to Sam’s weekend readers: sports - high school, college, pro; basketball, football, baseball, hockey - East coast. But reason #1 has gotta be dah pizza!
Those of you who wax poetic about the West/California’s climate, topography, etc: please write _after_ the first time you are within a couple of miles of a 5.0+ quake
