I’m always asked what commentaries people should consider buying. Well, here is a good starter list from Desiring God that you might want to use as a first guideline:
Genesis: Wenham (Word Biblical Commentary) or Sailhamer (Expositor’s Bible Commentary)
Exodus: Enns (NIV Application Commentary)
Leviticus: Hartley (WBC)
Numbers: Wenham (Tyndale Old Testament Commentaries)
Deuteronomy: McConville (AOTC ); Wright (New [...]
